Christ-Centered

Matthew 16:18 tells us “…Upon this Rock I will build My church and the gates of Hell will not stand against it.

Our core value of being Christ-Centered is the rock that holds everything together. Christ is the foundation of everything Rockford Lutheran School stands for. It informs our direction in Harmony, Service, and Excellence.

We cling to the core value that we are anchored and founded in Jesus Christ. Our Church, meaning our gathering of Christ’s people, will stand up to whatever attacks the world throws against us. Rockford Lutheran teaches the Gospel of Christ in truth and purity as we reach out to our students, family, and community and share the joy of our salvation. We stand firmly anchored in Christ, and we will not be moved. As Martin Luther said, “Here I stand; I can do no other.”

Rockford Lutheran accomplishes this in a variety of ways. We have daily Religion classes for all of our students, staff and student-led chapel services, and service projects that show the love of Christ to our community. This year we launched a youth group ministry where our students grow in Christ as well as get a stress break and social-emotional chat time with our student leaders. Several dozen students attend our Bible studies twice a month as their busy schedules allow. We look forward to growing the Christ-Centered foundation of Rockford Lutheran School each and every year!

OUR FIRST SCHOOL VALUE: BEING CHRIST-CENTERED

Christ is at the center of everything we do — from academics to athletics to small group worship to our friendships. It’s not that our school is perfect — no school can claim that. But we do know we have God’s perfect forgiveness and that makes growing up and getting through the difficult years of changes in our youths’ lives much easier. We are a distinctively Christian school that intentionally grounds itself in the rich Lutheran education tradition.

HOWEVER, you do not have to be Lutheran to be a Crusader. We open our doors to students from any faith background and even those that have not had a solid church home.

At Rockford Lutheran School, your child can find many ways to grow in your faith and share your faith with others. As a community we celebrate when a student comes to faith and chooses to be baptized in chapel with us. The faculty and staff are here for the students. If a student has a problem, they’ll not only talk with you — they’ll pray with you.
