Welcome from our Head of School

Welcome to Rockford Lutheran School, home of the Crusaders! Rockford Lutheran, or “Lutheran” as we are sometimes known, is a co-ed, private Christian school serving students from 3 years old through 12th grade and has been providing Christ-centered educational excellence since 1964. We draw families from the greater Rockford area and the surrounding Stateline region, even as far away as Freeport, IL. We blend a strong college preparatory curriculum with opportunities for co-curricular, service, and athletic activities to help every student mature and grow as a young Christian. We’re large enough to provide many different opportunities for your child to grow and explore, yet small enough for each to find their niche. We pride ourselves on small class sizes and a family atmosphere! Together with your church and family, we help every child grow in their faith, develop their unique God-given strengths, and meet the challenge of new opportunities.

We are proudly “pan-Lutheran” and actively work in partnership with both the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America (ELCA) and The Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod (LCMS) church bodies and their affiliated school associations. The school is owned and operated by 25 area Lutheran churches with the same goal of providing an outstanding education with an intentional Christian perspective. However, you don’t have to be Lutheran to join our community. While founded on the philosophy and traditions of Lutheran education, Rockford Lutheran offers a Christian educational experience that is approachable to most Christian families. Spiritual life is at the heart of what we do at Lutheran. Students study religion or take theology classes yearly and participate in weekly chapel services, sometimes by school division, grade level, and sometimes as an entire school community. Our goal is that every student is known by name, loved, and shown that they are valued every day. At Lutheran, they will learn that God desires a personal relationship with them and that He created them on purpose, with a purpose. Our job is to help encourage and nurture that relationship while discovering and developing that purpose.

The decision about which school your child will attend is a question about how to invest in your child’s life. If the type of experience, growth, and preparation described here is what you want your child to receive, and you are asking, “Why Lutheran?” maybe a better question to ask is, “Why not Lutheran?” Come and discover what it means to be a Crusader today!

Thank you for visiting our website today. Let us know how we can serve you and your family. God’s Peace!
