Summer reading is an excellent way for students to continue to grow in their academic capability. While some students may prefer to delve into works specific to their future career, others benefit from engaging with a variety of quality literary works. Honors’ Summer Reading Initiative

 

This summer, RLHS will continue our Honors’ Summer Reading Initiative. Students were given details in the last week of Honors’ English classes, but here’s a quick overview:

Entering 9th Grade – Honors Freshman English

  • Read “I Am The Cheese” by Robert Cormier

 

Entering 10th Grade – Honors Sophomores English

  • Read “Tuesdays with Morrie” by Mitch Albom

  • Write two paragraphs connecting to the characters

  • Contact Mrs. Giamalva for details (tgiamalva@rockfordlutheran.org).

 

Entering 11th Grade – Honors Junior English

  • Read a selection from the “American Classic Literature” list (on Ms. Vito’s list).

  • Write a 5 paragraph essay describing themes of the novel.

Entering 12th Grade Dual Credit/Honors English

  • Read “The Man Who Was Thursday” by GK Chesterton
