Although service projects haven’t yet been discussed, in the past we have had 2 major book drives for 2 local schools, students raised enough funds to build one concrete wall for an elementary school in Guatemala ($500), we’ve helped Rockford Lutheran families who are experiencing hardships. We try to do one project with K Kids at RLA and another with the high school Key Club each year.

Our motto: To God Be the Glory as we serve Him.

The ability to stand before a small audience to give a prepared speech is an invaluable skill. Rockford Lutheran offers a speech team opportunity for all of our junior high students. The first semester speech team competes through the IESA. Solo and/or duet contest pieces are 5-10 minutes long. These short scripts will be evaluated on delivery of the material as well as basic blocking and movement. The cost per entry is only $5. This is a wonderful opportunity to build upon the skills students already having in public speaking and acting. For more information and even see several videos of speeches, go to www.iesa.organd click on “Speech”.
